In Ukraine, 75% of all hop plantations are located in Zhytomyr Oblast

The harvest season is currently underway in Zhytomyr Oblast. In the village of Ivankivtsi, hops have already been harvested from an area of 20 hectares. According to Ivan Panchenko, the director of Vetrokiyivka-Hmyl, in total, 18 varieties of this culture are grown at the enterprise, Suspilne reports. According to him, hop harvesting is carried out with the help of an operator who manages the process of plucking and loading the plant into a trailer. The workers help straighten the hops and remove fallen bushes. After that, the harvest is transported to the combine, where further processing takes place. Collected hops are delivered to the warehouse, where they are sorted, excess parts are removed and dried. Agronomist Ivan Kovenko noted that up to one and a half tons of dry hops can be collected during a working day under favorable conditions. Then the hops are pressed into granules for better storage.
