In Ukraine, the sweet pepper market decreased by almost 40%

In Ukraine, the capacity of the pepper market before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation had a growing dynamic both due to the growth of domestic production and due to imports, which in 2021 amounted to more than 30 thousand tons, writes Inventure. Due to a full-scale war in 2022, the market decreased by 38%, while imports fell more than 2 times to 12.3 thousand tons, production decreased by 33% to 1,086 thousand tons. It is noted that from 2016 to 2022, the volume of pepper imports to Ukraine increased 3 times, which is associated with the formation of a healthier consumption culture and the consumption of vegetables all year round. Experts explain the decrease in production by population migration and the occupation of food-important territories of Ukraine, which led to an increase in vegetable prices.
