Inacal approves new Peruvian Technical Standard to guarantee the quality of spinach

With the aim of strengthening the quality and safety of the country's agricultural products, the National Institute of Quality (Inacal) approved the Peruvian Technical Standard NTP 011.710:2025 "VEGETABLES. Spinach," which establishes the requirements that fresh spinach intended for direct human consumption must meet. This technical standard seeks to ensure that spinach reaches the final consumer in optimal, healthy, fresh, clean, and unspoiled conditions, as well as to facilitate its commercialization both nationally and internationally, promoting standards from the field to the table. Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) is one of the most valued vegetables for its high content of iron, vitamins A, C, K, folic acid, flavonoids, and carotenoids. According to National Geographic, it is especially beneficial for people with iron deficiency, pregnant women, and those who follow vegetarian diets, due to its essential contribution of micronutrients.
