The Mercosur bloc's steer market is experiencing positive growth, with all member countries seeing price increases. In Argentina, export-type steers reached US$4.26/kg, driven by Slaughterhouse demand and limited supply. In Brazil, fattened steers were quoted at US$4.03/kg, with strong projections despite a slight decrease in exports. Uruguay saw a slight increase to USD 4.08/kg, but exports are down by 40% compared to last year. Paraguay's steer suitable for the European Union reached USD 3.60/kg, with fluctuations in price due to varying lot sizes. The average price of Argentine steer is 8% higher than its Mercosur neighbors, with the largest price gap being between Paraguay and Brazil. Internationally, steer meat prices also increased, with the US reaching USD 6.44/kg and the European Union averaging USD 5.58/kg. The suspension of Mexican cattle imports in the US due to the screwworm fly is causing concern for the supply and prices of cattle locally.
