The Indian central government has approved the export of 14,000 tonnes of non-basmati white rice to Mauritius, according to an official notification. The exports are to be managed by the National Cooperative Exports Limited, adhering to the directions of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). This decision is part of India's rice export policy, which has allowed exports to several countries including Nepal, Cameroon, and the UAE, in response to their food security needs and government requests. The government has also implemented various measures such as imposing a minimum floor price on basmati rice exports and extending a 20% export duty on parboiled rice to March 2024, to regulate rice exports and ensure domestic availability.
