India extends duty-free import of yellow peas by two months

The Indian government has extended the duty-free import of yellow peas for another two months, until February 28, 2025. This was reported in a notification published on the website of the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) of the country's Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The first term of this measure expires at the end of this year. We are talking about products with the commodity code ITC (HS) 07131010. For the first time, India was allowed to purchase this legume without duties in December last year. According to the authorities, this measure was supposed to stabilize prices for the crop and other products dependent on it, as well as eliminate the deficit in the domestic market of legumes.
