India has set a record for edible oil imports for July, driven by lower prices and the anticipation of increased import duties. The country, the world's largest importer of vegetable oils, will import 1.92 million metric tons, a 26% rise from the previous month. Palm oil imports will surge by 45% to 1.14 million metric tons, the highest in 20 months, due to a significant price drop. Soyoil imports are also expected to rise by 45% to 400,000 metric tons, the highest in 13 months, while sunflower oil imports are projected to decline by 18% to 380,000 tons. India sources palm oil from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, and soyoil and sunflower oil from Argentina, Brazil, Russia, and Ukraine.
