India, with its potential to become the world's leading coconut producer, is focusing on boosting its coconut industry, currently positioned as the third-largest globally behind Indonesia and the Philippines. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) emphasizes the importance of coconut production due to its zero-waste nature and the income it generates for over 12 million people in India. The states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh are the main contributors to India's coconut production. Additionally, coconut milk, a by-product of the coconut palm, is highlighted for its benefits, particularly for those with lactose intolerance or who follow a strict vegetarian diet.
