India launches oil palm plantation to increase production

As an important step towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of self-reliance in edible oil production, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the launch of a massive oil palm initiative. These efforts are designed to revolutionize the state's agro-economy while providing farmers with an opportunity to increase their income. The grand opening of the growing program took place in the Tinsukiya area. Emphasizing the importance of this endeavor, Chief Minister Sarma announced the state's intention to allocate approximately 3.75 million hectares of land to oil palm cultivation. To ensure the success of this initiative, the Government of Assam entered into a partnership with Patanjali Food Limited (PFL).
