India opens its market to Kenyan avocados

Kephis managing director Professor Theophilus Mutui said the Indian government last week approved Kenya's request to export avocados, a new move that is expected to boost Kenya's plan to expand its share of the international market. “We received a communication from the Indian government dated August 16, 2023 confirming the opening of the market by the Asian country. The Indian government allowed Kenya access to the avocado market after notifying the World Trade Organization (WTO)," he said. He praised the move, saying it shows that export destinations continue to increase and thus help farmers grow more avocados.
