Indian scientists have grown brimato, tomatoes and eggplant are harvested from one plant

Agricultural scientists at the Indian Vegetable Institute in Varanasi are successfully developing Brimato, a grafted plant that produces both eggplants and tomatoes. Each plant yields up to 2.3 kilograms of tomatoes and 2.64 kilograms of eggplant, according to Hortidaily.com. Scientists at the Indian Institute for Vegetable Research (IIVR), Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a field arm of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), have developed a grafting method that allows two vegetables to be grown from a single plant. “The grafting of tomatoes and eggplants was successful. Both plants are from the same family, although they have different characteristics, ”explained Anant Bahadur, Chief Scientist at IIVR, Varanasi.
