Indian traders are importing Afghan onions due to rising domestic prices

Following a rise in onion prices in the domestic market in India, traders have started importing onions from Afghanistan. In the market, consumers find that a kilogram of onions is available at prices ranging from Rs 55 to Rs 60 (which equates to €0.55 to €0.60). Satish Dhyani, the manager at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) in Attari, said an average of three trucks carrying more than 65 tonnes of onions arrive from Afghanistan every day.
