Indonesia Ready to Announce Food Self-Sufficiency by December 31
Rice reserves three times the national requirement form the basis of the self-sufficiency announcement.

REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that Indonesia is ready to announce food self-sufficiency on strategic commodities such as rice, at 12:00 PM on December 31, 2025. All rice in the national warehouses is entirely from the production of Indonesian farmers. Amran explained that the national rice stock is currently at its highest, reaching 3.8 million tons. The government is also preparing a reserve three times the national requirement to ensure that no one is left without food, especially in disaster-affected areas. "Insha'Allah, we pray we can announce self-sufficiency later. On December 31 at 12:00 PM, we will announce that Indonesia is self-sufficient.
