The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers reports a growth in squid and octopus exports to several markets in January 2022. The highest growth was observed in exports to China and Hong Kong (176%), and the EU, particularly Spain and France (562% and 346% respectively). Korea and Japan were the largest importers, accounting for 33% and 23% of the total export value respectively. Squid accounted for 56.4% of the exports, and octopus for 43.6%. The most significant growth was seen in other processed squid products. In 2021, Vietnam's squid and octopus exports reached $608 million, with the US seeing the highest growth in octopus imports (135%). Korea is the largest market for Vietnamese octopus, accounting for 41% of total exports.
