In the Magway region, pigeon peas are typically intercropped with sesame, peanuts, and other crops during the early rainy season, and begin to come to market around January during the late rice season. When pigeon peas first come to market, prices range from 95,000 to 120,000 Myanmar kyat per bag.
Currently, due to a lack of market demand, pigeon pea prices have dropped to around 88,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, causing stockists to face losses.
An agricultural product trader in Magway City stated that pigeon peas are primarily exported to India, and the pigeon pea trade in Magway heavily relies on market conditions in Yangon.
