The National Supply Company (Conab) has reported that intense rains have severely impacted fruit and vegetable production in Rio Grande do Sul, as detailed in the 5th Bulletin of the Brazilian Horticulture Market Modernization Program (Prohort). Farmers are facing significant challenges in planting, transporting, and marketing their produce due to flooding and high humidity. Operations at Ceasa in Porto Alegre have been relocated to Gravataí, but logistical issues continue. There have been notable losses in vegetable production, especially lettuce, and quality issues in citrus fruits. Despite these difficulties, prices for many products have remained stable, with increases observed in arugula, kale, strawberries, and beetroot. The full bulletin is available on the Conab website.
