International Animal Epidemic Updates of the Week - Issue 463 (June 6-12)

Between June 6 and June 12, several countries reported outbreaks of animal diseases, including Africa's six countries reporting outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boars and domestic pigs, with hundreds of pigs dead or culled. Poland reported the highest number of cases, followed by Hungary, Germany, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ukraine. Additionally, Italy reported 112 outbreaks of African swine fever in wild boars.

Outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza were also reported in the United States, Burkina Faso, France, Japan, and in mammals in the United States. Other countries reported outbreaks of rabies, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, equine infectious anemia, foot-and-mouth disease, and anthrax, affecting various animals such as pigs, horses, cattle, sea lions, and wild birds.

In total, the reported outbreaks led to the death or culling of hundreds, if not thousands, of animals, highlighting the need for ongoing surveillance and prevention efforts against these diseases.
