Indonesia: IPB Professor suggests that oil palm replanting funds be increased to IDR 50 million per hectare

The smallholder palm oil replanting or rejuvenation (PSR) program faces a number of obstacles in its implementation, especially regarding funding. IPB Professor, Prof. Budi Mulyanto proposed that the oil palm replanting fund could be increased to IDR 50 million per heectar (ha) from the current IDR 30 million per ha. "The replanting fund must be designed as well as possible and sufficiently. It can be calculated that IDR 30 million per hectare is not enough, I think IDR 50 million per hectare is good," said Budi to Kontan, Saturday (30/3). Apart from that, farmers are also reportedly reluctant to replant because they are worried about not having income while waiting for the oil palm plants to become productive plants.
