Between January and April of 2021, Iran experienced a significant increase in fruit and nut exports to China, with pistachios being the primary product. Exports of pistachios to China rose 2.4 times compared to the same period in 2020 and 4.5 times compared to 2019, amounting to $179 million. China's imports of pistachios have doubled, positioning it as the sixth largest import position for nuts in China. Additionally, fig exports from Iran to China saw a sevenfold increase, reaching $3.4 million. Despite these achievements, Iran is not yet allowed in the Chinese fresh fruit market, limiting its export earnings. Nonetheless, it managed to rank sixth among the largest suppliers of fruits and nuts in the Chinese market in the first four months of 2021.
