A business forum in Tehran between Iran and Cuba has led to discussions on reconstructing and optimizing 160 Cuban sugar factories. Feasibility studies for this project are already underway, with results soon to be available for Iranian companies. The forum also covered the potential for Iranian agricultural exports, fertilizers, and pesticides to Cuba. This comes as Cuba's sugar production has dramatically decreased from 7 million tons in the 1980s to 480 thousand tons in 2022, due in part to US sanctions.
