Irish negotiators are hopeful to reach final decisions for 2024 on key stocks for Irish fishermen at this year's Fisheries Council. EU/UK bilateral talks have likely reached a conclusion ahead of the Council, making it timely and practical for negotiations pivotal to the Irish fleet to be finished before Ireland and its EU counterparts begin to talk and strike final deals. The Killybegs Fishermen’s Organization is hopeful that the Council will be able to sign off on a complete package of TACs and quotas for the entire year, with a focus on issues such as overfishing, whitefish stocks, and elevated quotas for Ireland.
