Launched in 2023, the 'Irrigated Fruit Farming of Vão do Paranã' project, a collaborative effort by the Goiás State Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa/GO), Embrapa Cerrados, and other partners, aims to transform the Vão do Paranã region in Northeast Goiás into a thriving fruit production hub. Targeting 2,500 agrarian reform families, the initiative provides irrigation kits and technical assistance to enhance fruit cultivation, including mango and passion fruit, leveraging the region's strategic location and abundant water resources. With initial plantings between September and October 2023, the project not only promises to boost local fruit production and family incomes but also serves as a potential model for similar agricultural endeavors across Brazil, driving socioeconomic development through irrigated agriculture.
