The Rural Development Administration in South Korea is introducing new persimmon varieties, 'Gampung' and 'Bonghwang', to replace the commonly grown 'Buyu' variety and boost farm income. 'Gampung', developed in 2013, is crispier and larger, while 'Bonghwang', developed in 2019, has a unique shape and texture. The administration is promoting these new varieties through a project in three regions and plans to establish specialized persimmon cultivation complexes, aiming to increase production and quality.
