Biological plant protection products are now important pillars of sustainable farming, yet they are difficult to reach for producers. Two committees of the European Parliament have now adopted a document that proposes simplifying and accelerating the entire authorization process. According to the representatives, farmers can only reduce the use of chemical plant protection products if biological protection methods represent a tangible alternative. The directions for change are already on the agenda for the EP's November plenary session. The focus of the debate is that the transition from chemical pesticides cannot work without appropriate tools.
