Turkey: Hop harvest has begun

Hops, which are produced on an area of approximately 1,450 acres in Pazaryeri district and are the source of income for approximately 500 farmers, were included among the geographically indicated products of Bilecik by the Bilecik Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2020 in cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. In recent months, the 2024 hop purchase prices were determined as 69 TL for the aroma type and 67 TL for other varieties, while the yield was lower than expected during the dry summer period in the district. Fahrettin Kınık, who produces hops in the Dereköy village of the district, stated that the harvest season has started and that he could not get the product he expected, and that his crops were not one-tenth of the ones he had produced last season.
