Hungary is the world's leading exporter of fresh cherries, with an 8% increase in exports to 11.1 thousand tons last year. Despite a decrease in imports, the country enjoyed a surplus in both frozen sour and canned cherry exports in 2020. However, extreme weather conditions have resulted in a lower yield this year, failing to reach 60,000 tons. Cherry prices remained stable domestically until the 30th week of the season, with a slight increase in the purchase price of industrial cherries.
