Sometimes quite peculiar things turn up in our garden, the origin of which we know nothing about. We now lift the veil on a frightening yet useful "formation." Insects also help maintain the beauty and health of our garden, although they sometimes work for our benefit invisibly. Often we do not know they are present among our plants, only realizing it when they leave clear signs of their presence. The praying mantis, for example, is a species native to Hungary and belongs to the suborder of winged insects. Its name is misleading, as it is more closely related to cockroaches and termites than to other mantises, and moreover, it does not eat the leaves of our plants, as it feeds on flying insects, meaning it is a voracious (and quite ruthless) predator. The female is somewhat larger than the male and is perhaps the "most ruthless": after mating at the end of summer, she occasionally eats the male, but cannibalism is not as common among them as most people think.
