Ukraine: It is more profitable to raise ostriches than pigs

It all started with six African ostriches, writes ShoTam. Vasyl Perets bought birds at a price of 1.5 thousand dollars each. Ostriches grow up to 120 kilograms a year. You can sell both bird meat and their eggs, chicks and adult ostriches. Another source of income for the farmer is green tourism. After all, there are many who want to visit an exotic farm. In addition to birds, the farm is home to donkeys, ponies and roe deer. Animals can be petted and fed. Mr. Vasyl plans to expand production and sell ostriches and farm products abroad. The largest ostrich farm in Ukraine is located in the village of Yasnogorodka (Kyiv region). There are 500 ostriches. The total area of aviaries and premises for birds is 6 hectares.
