Industrial hazelnut plantations planted with Italian varieties are thriving in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions. Ukrainian farmer, Makar Tereshchenko, has seen success with these plantations, highlighting the shift from skepticism about their survival to their current performance due to climate changes. Both Polish and Italian hazelnut varieties are preferred for their suitability for processing and combined harvesting, which is crucial for the efficiency of lessening labor forces and maximizing mechanization, a necessary adaptation for modern agricultural practices.
