In a typical season in Poland, the peak supply of cucumbers usually ends in the second half of August, and that's when the price of the vegetable tends to rise, although there are times when you have to wait for a significant price increase until the end of the first decade of September, FruitVeB wrote. However, the scenario of this year's 2024 season does not follow the course of "normal" seasons at all: it is not an exaggeration to say that it is a supply collapse, which raised the price of cucumbers to astronomical heights. The wholesale price of pickled snake cucumbers is currently between 7-9 PLN/kg (645-830 HUF/kg). The price of grown cucumbers was driven up by the scarcity of the supply of goods in the open field, as catastrophic weather conditions prevailed this year. Thanks to this, high prices can also be seen for goods from the open field: 3-6 PLN/kg (275-555 HUF/kg) for salad and 3.5-7 PLN/kg (325-645 HUF/kg) for canned cucumbers.
