Jangheung County (County Chief Kim Seong) reported that on the 24th, they confirmed thousands of rare Fennec shrimp and long-tailed horseshoe shrimp in the eco-friendly agricultural complex in the Bukgyo-ri area of Jangdong-myeon. The long-tailed horseshoe shrimp is a fossil creature discovered in Paleozoic era fossils from 300 million years ago, which had once disappeared and was designated as an endangered species due to excessive pesticide use. Recently, with the introduction of eco-friendly farming methods, they have reappeared and are occasionally found only in pristine areas. The Fennec shrimp, with a transparent body that allows seeing through to its interior, is characterized by black eyes and a long red tail. Together with the long-tailed horseshoe shrimp, they stir the rice paddy floor with dozens of legs and long tails, eating food and preventing weeds from growing.
