Exports of forest fishery products and food products had a strong start in 2021, with a 40% increase from the same month the previous year, reaching a value of 75.8 billion yen in January, the highest in the past 10 years. The increase was driven by demand for products such as beef, apples, green tea, and liquor, particularly from Taiwan and Hong Kong. The Japanese government aims to increase the value of forest and fishery products and food exports to 5 trillion yen within 30 years.
