The article reports on the scallop production in Japan, which failed to meet the target of 308,000 tons, instead coming in lower than the previous season at 319,700 tons. Despite six years of consistent production exceeding 300,000 tons, the final volume was lower due to adverse weather conditions and limited food sources, leading to suboptimal growth, especially in the northern Wakkanai region. Despite these challenges, the average price of raw scallops at the pier ranged from 100 to 200 yen/kg, excluding consumption tax, and varied based on the size of the scallop.
