In July, Japan experienced a significant surge in seafood imports, with a 32% increase in value reaching US$1.2586 billion. This surge was led by increased imports of various tuna species, fresh and frozen salmon, shrimp, squid, crab, and octopus. Notably, there was a doubling of Chilean frozen coho salmon and Argentine squid imports, a 15% increase in Norwegian Atlantic salmon imports, a 33% increase in shrimp and squid imports, a 45% increase in crab imports, and an 87% increase in octopus imports. However, there was a 11% decrease in fresh and frozen herring imports.
