Japan's surimi imports in April increased slightly by 0.4% year-on-year

The output of fried surimi was 13,086 tons, up 3.2%, the first time in 5 months that it exceeded the same period last year. In December last year and January this year, the monthly output was less than 10,000 tons, and it recovered to 11,000 tons from February. In April, the output of crab sticks was 11,081 tons, up 0.8%, the output of boiled fish cake was 2,522 tons, up 0.4% year-on-year, the output of traditional steamed fish cake (ita-kamaboko) was 3,020 tons, up 6.1% year-on-year; the output of baked fish cake was 5,647 tons, down 2.9% year-on-year, and the output of casing surimi was 618 tons, down 3 year-on-year 7.8%. The cumulative output of surimi from January to April this year was 147,599 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%, of which the output of fish cake was 11,358 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22.5%, and the output of fried fish cake was 58,335 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9%.
