According to Jeju on the 18th, four local export processing plants have exported a total of 19 tons, worth 508,000 U.S. dollars (approximately 740 million won) of Jeju beef and pork to Singapore as of the 16th. This amount is half of the total export value of Jeju livestock products last year, which was 1,027,000 U.S. dollars. The export of Jeju beef and pork to Singapore was agreed upon during the Korea-Singapore summit on November 2 of last year, and the first shipment was loaded at Jeju Port on the 1st of this month. The four local export processing plants have signed memoranda of understanding (MOU) or contracts with six Singapore importers, and the exported Jeju beef and pork have completed import inspections by the Singapore government and are being sold in local markets. The export price in Singapore is 1.2 times the domestic distribution price. In high-end distribution stores in Singapore, beef tenderloin (1++) is sold for 350,000 to 430,000 won per kg, and black pork (three-layer) is sold for more than 100,000 won per kg, according to the report. In Singapore, import companies and restaurants are actively securing quantities of Jeju beef and pork. Some import companies plan to hold promotional events for Jeju beef and pork locally. The outlook for Jeju livestock exports has brightened with the opening of the Singapore market. According to the results of assessing annual export volumes by company, it is expected that 93 tons (3.4 billion won) of beef, 123 tons (2.4 billion won) of pork, and a total of 217 tons (5.8 billion won) will be exported next year. This is a fivefold increase compared to last year's export value.
