(Jeju=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Ho-cheon = The Jeju Agricultural Cooperative Corporation announced that it will launch the domestic new variety premium kiwi, 'Heart Gold', on Hyundai Home Shopping for the first time, with the broadcast scheduled for 5 PM on the 10th.
Heart Gold is a name developed by the Jeju Agricultural Technology Institute as a Jeju-branded product, based on the variety 'Gamhwang' developed by the Rural Development Administration's Research Institute for Warm-Climate Agriculture.
The broadcast will promote the unique characteristics of Heart Gold, including its high sugar content of over 16 Brix on average, its smooth texture, and its rich juice.
Heart Gold kiwis are known for their high sugar content and ability to maintain freshness for a long time.
The Jeju Agricultural Cooperative Corporation has established a stable supply system by acquiring trademark and design rights from the Jeju Agricultural Technology Institute and forming an exclusive distribution system with Aewol Agricultural Cooperative, Seongsan Ilchulbong Agricultural Cooperative, and others.
Last year, around 60 farms in Jeju produced 250 tons of Heart Gold kiwis from approximately 20 hectares, and this year's production is expected to reach 400 tons.
The current chairman of the Jeju Agricultural Cooperative Corporation said, "The launch on Hyundai Home Shopping will be an opportunity to increase the brand value of Jeju kiwis," and added, "We will simultaneously increase farmers' income and consumer satisfaction by opening new sales channels for the new variety and strengthening sales channels."
