Jeju Promotes Establishment of Domestic Flower Pollen Production Infrastructure

A demonstration project to lower the import dependency on kiwi pollen and block the introduction of overseas pests is being promoted to establish a domestic pollen production base. The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Technology Institute's Eastern Agricultural Technology Center (Director Kim Seung-hyun) announced that it is promoting a 'technology dissemination blending pollen production base establishment demonstration' to strengthen the competitiveness of Jeju's kiwi industry. According to the Eastern Agricultural Technology Center, Jeju's kiwi cultivation area is approximately 400ha, the second-largest after Jeollanam-do, and it ranks first in national production.
