Jeollanam-do and the Korea Maritime and Fisheries Development Institute conducted the 2022 Jeollanam-do Fisheries Observation Contest to formulate future policy strategies aimed at achieving an annual seafood production goal of 4 trillion won. This builds on the region's 2021 production of 3.1 trillion won. The plan includes an investment of 6.5 billion won from 2019 to 2035, with the establishment of four specialized teams focusing on fish, shellfish/invertebrate, seaweed, and future strategy. These teams will concentrate on various aspects such as disease control, mass production of seeds, standardization of aquaculture technology, and selective breeding. The ultimate goal is to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of Jeollanam-do's seafood industry.
