(Jeonju=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Dong-chul = The Jeonbuk Agricultural and Biotechnology Research Institute has developed an effective natural complex material for removing nonenal, the main cause of body odor in the elderly, using black soybeans, water parsley, and rice bran produced in Jeonju, it was announced on the 23rd.
'Nonenal' is an unsaturated fatty acid oxidation belonging to the aldehyde series, primarily generated by changes in sebaceous glands and increased oxidative stress, and is known as the main cause of body odor with age.
The research institute developed a 'black soybean soap' prototype using a composition of black soybeans, rice bran, and water parsley (96:3:1) and conducted a human application test on 24 women over 50 years old.
As a result, even with just one use, body odor intensity and odor grades were significantly reduced, and the improvement effect was found to be superior to regular soap.
The research institute plans to continue its research with the goal of commercialization.
Research Institute Director Kim Sang-nam said, "We expect the black soybean composition to be of great help in hygiene management and improving the quality of life for the elderly" and that "it will help add high value to Jeonju's agricultural resources and increase income for local farmers."
