The Jeonnam Provincial Agricultural Research and Development Institute in South Korea is set to boost its research into subtropical and tropical fruit trees to combat climate change. The institute will invest over 1.1 billion won in nine projects to develop new subtropical fruits and four projects to specialize in citron products. The institute also plans to develop seedless and thornless varieties of citron to boost the industry and provide customized technology for new subtropical fruits. The institute has developed 22 new fruit varieties, which have been distributed to 500 farms, and plans to establish a public-private network to link research results to income.
