Jeonnam Province selected "Muan napa cabbage" as the eco-friendly agricultural product for December. Napa cabbage is rich in dietary fiber and vitamins C and K, as well as calcium, and is known for its effectiveness in promoting digestion, enhancing immunity, and providing antioxidant functions, making it a representative national vegetable. Particularly, it is considered one of the main seasonal agricultural products with concentrated demand during kimchi-making season. Mr. Hong Gap-pyo and his spouse, Ms. Yun Myeong-suk, who cultivate eco-friendly napa cabbage in Hyeonmyeong-myeon, Muan, are a representative leading farm that has been practicing eco-friendly agriculture for over 40 years since starting sweet potato farming in 1985. Through study tours to Japan and Taiwan in 1987-1988, they learned advanced technology and established the local eco-friendly agriculture base with a three-crop rotation of early-maturing onions, peppers, and potatoes, but due to price fluctuations.
