[Reporter Kang-san from the Korea Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper] Jeonnam Province and Jeonnam Education Office have finally resolved the conflict that has been ongoing since last year over the sharing ratio for the free school meal program, reaching a final agreement on a three-year sharing plan where local governments will contribute 40% and Jeonnam Education Office 60%. Accordingly, in the 2026 free school meal support project budget of 124.1 billion won, Jeonnam Education Office will bear 74.5 billion won and local governments 49.6 billion won. The conflict between the two organizations began last year when the School Meal Support Deliberation Committee decided to lower Jeonnam Province's contribution ratio from 50% to 30%. Jeonnam Education Office argued that applying the changed contribution rate would result in an additional financial burden of over 20 billion won annually.
