South Korea's Jeollanam-do province has exported over $300 million worth of seaweed for the first time, contributing to 36% of the country's total seaweed exports. This achievement is credited to the province's strategic plans and initiatives aimed at improving quality and expanding export markets, such as the '$300 million seaweed export project' and the 'comprehensive seaweed industry development plan'. The plans have focused on hygiene and quality improvement, modernization, and marketing efforts. Looking ahead, the province intends to boost seaweed production, increase the industry's high added value, and establish a National Seaweed Industry Promotion Agency to further grow the seaweed industry, which is valued for its economic benefits at every stage from seed to export.
