Jordan's olive harvest is nearing completion, with a total of over 22,000 tons harvested so far. The country is on track to produce around 24,000 tons of olive oil this year, sufficient to meet its own demand of approximately 21,000 tons. However, the production figures are lower than the government's initial projections of 30,000 tons or more. This discrepancy is attributed to lower than expected oil content in the fruits and adverse weather conditions, including a lack of rain during the olive ripening season and extreme heat. Despite these challenges, Jordan's high-quality extra virgin olive oil is expected to drive exports to grow in the current season.
