The President of the Giresun Chamber of Agriculture, Nurittin Karan, has called for an extension of the registration period for the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS), which closed on 30 June 2021, and a increase in the price difference of 50 kuruş for Giresun quality hazelnuts. He explained that producers who failed to register will be excluded from agricultural subsidies, particularly the field-based income support for hazelnuts. Karan also urged for a rise in the base price of hazelnuts for 2021, currently set at 50 cents per kilogram for Giresun quality oiled hazelnuts, stating that the current difference is no longer sufficient.
