Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Agriculture, Amangaliy Berdalin, visited the Astrakhan Region to explore collaboration opportunities in the artificial reproduction of young sturgeon species, in line with President Tokayev's directive to modernize the Atyrau sturgeon hatchery. The Kazakh delegation, comprising fisheries, business, and scientific representatives, toured sturgeon facilities and engaged in discussions with Russian officials. The focus was on sturgeon reproduction cooperation and establishing a selection and genetic center at the Atyrau plant, with Russia showing interest in resuming joint sturgeon genetics research in the Caspian basin.
