Kazakhstan has approached Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian agricultural watchdog, with a proposal to transit lentils to Turkey, awaiting approval following the provision of additional quarantine information. The discussions between Kazakhstan's State Inspection Committee and Russia were initiated by Russia to address concerns over the falsification of phytosanitary documents for European produce, misrepresented as Kazakhstani, and the illegal import of sanctioned quarantine products like pears from Europe. Following the uncovering of a specific smuggling attempt involving 10 batches of fake Kazakhstani pears marked as Polish or Belgian origin, totaling 180 tons, Russia has called for an investigation and dialogue with Kazakhstan to tackle these violations.
