Over the past three years, the volume of exports from Kazakhstan to Afghanistan has seen a steady increase, with rail transportation reaching 2.7 million tons in 2023, which is 14% more than in 2021. This trend is expected to continue with a 40% increase in the coming years and a threefold increase by 2030. This was announced during a meeting between the Deputy Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, Serik Zhumangarin and Abdul Ghani Baradar, who expressed mutual interest in transport integration projects in Central and South Asia. Kazakhstan is willing to contribute to the development of the trans-Afghan corridor, including the construction of several railways, which could reduce delivery time and cargo transportation costs.
