In the first half of 2024, Kazakhstan experienced a significant decrease in its agricultural exports, with a 42% drop in linseed exports contributing to a total export reduction of raw agro-products by 39% to $1 billion. This decline was evident across major cereals, oilseeds, and pulses, with wheat exports alone falling by 52%. The only exception to this trend was a 31% increase in unspun cotton fiber exports. This decrease in exports, especially to China due to growing competition from Russian suppliers, contradicts the country's plans to increase flax cultivation to 1 million hectares due to the low profitability of other crops.
